Notes About The Poem

I think from the front my nose is pretty cute, but in profile, it looks like this

This is not me. I never take photos from the side if I can help it .haha:

I used to really hate it and wished I could have plastic surgery, but I have grown to accept it, Tom Cruise is sure cute with his and Barbara Streisand isn't half bad!

If you have an aquline nose, read this article. It's really cool what it says about women with this type of a nose. They say even Cleopatra had it. And there was Abraham Lincoln too. I am in some very good company!

Aquiline Nose

When I was a little girl,
Mother said to me
on my dad’s side there had been
a pure Cherokee.

I felt so proud that I had
in my ancestry
blood of those who roamed this land
throughout history.

I’d been born with thick black hair,
and my nose grew long!
I supposed the Cherokee
in my blood was strong.

Mom is Welsh and proud of it,
saying I am full
of her Welsh vim and vigor,
plus a poet’s soul!

Of my sisters, there’s just one
with my long-nosed look.
I’ve got the results of the
blood test that she took.

By her DNA we see
Mom’s side very well -
Scotch-Irish, Welsh, Finnish too!
I think that’s all swell.

My dad’s side are the English.
That’s what I suppose.
There’s no Cherokee, so from
whense came my humped nose?

One small part Italian showed
on the test she’d sought.
For ONE percent is it that
Roman nose I got?

Aquiliners are ultimately prettier. Early on, they take issue with the nose and don't become vain, and vain isn't pretty -- in my opinion. (I don't have a new poem)

This is really cute Andrea and I love that you wrote it in your own invented poetry form! I found out I have 8 percent Italian or Greek from my DNA. Hope this one shines in the contest! : )

Who knows about noses? My mom's Caribbean Indian, and my father traces back to Spain. My nose had better point to the culture I prefer... ya know, human

A nose by any other name is still a nose... I like your take on the theme Andrea

Laughing so hard, you have always hated your nose. I wish I had the black straight thick hair and the bronze skin, I just got the freckles. I've been told I look English and I always wanted to look more Cherokee. I have been told my big bone build is like the Cherokee. Not in my DNA either. But there is an Indian in our family somewhere.

I always liked that kind of nose, Andrea. It has..."personality"! Be proud of it. Great little poem...as usual. GL in the contest, though I doubt you need it.

Yes, it has BIG personality hahaha. A few Japanese students were the only ones that ever told me they like it. I guess it's prestigious to have a big Schnoz in Japan??
