April To Thrill Me
APRIL TO THRILL ME
My Birth-Month April appears in mirth.
It bids bye to Spring waiving one hand.
Oher hand welcomes debut of Summer.
Gentle zephyr devoured by strong storm.
Soft simmering Sun of Spring
starts to burn blazing bright from mid-April.
Scorching heat hits hot hammer
obeying grammar of Summer, strict in operation.
Me comfortable, residing in tropical zone,
being prone to sweat in humid sticky environ,
yet enjoy April, as Sumer steps in.
My Birth-Month arrogant April!
Abrupt gust chasing dust and pollen
to whirl, twirl, swirl, spin or fly free at random.
Sudden squall termed ‘Kaal Baisakhee’ has its visit
scheduled in month of April over territory of Bengal.
Swaggering storm shows its vibrant gallant rigorous thrust
on pompous gorgeous approach, sometimes cloudburst.
Bengali New Year starts on Mid-April
I reminisce, I recollect, I feel
to rejoice or to lament over bygone moments.
So many emotional bonds entangled since long Past
just to ruminate in short Future.
Mid-April alerts and makes me aware
One year is wiped out.
Honoring my Birth-Month April
I wish to put all grievances under key and lock,
Yet long-lost deep love to peep, creep
to knock pricking piercing heart.
Gardenia in my garden, burdened with blossoms in plenitude,
spreading fervent fragrance in blowing April breeze.
April brings attractive redolence of abloom Jasmine
recalling my amour, once in glamour
now inert, silent, resting, being settled in abyss of mind
as ashes of memories.
A feral crooked creeper with thorny stem,
tiny fruits carrying horny seeds,
grown o her own, not planted by me,
hangs on lattice at gate.
Every year at winter, leaves dry up.
I remove it from the roots.
But the stubborn perennial climber grows afresh,
extending tough tendrils to coil
enlivening in month of April.
I cannot get rid of my oldest companion
striving to survive and succeeding on favor of Nature.
I enjoy Amazing, Astounding, Wonderful April:
as my Birth-Month appears each year.
Also, to remember sharing same Birthday
with William Shakespeare.
I am Proud and Thrilled.
