Anticipation

Apples, oranges, nuts; awesome fragrances. And the spirit of love and joy was of no human origin. Our father did not express tenderness, but Christmas convinced us that he really did have a heart with love. There was no end to banana and sweet potato pies. But above all else was that innate 'power of ANTICIPATION'. In addition to presents from family, there was a rich lady in the community who gave every kid a present, every Christmas. As little kids, our thinking was geared more toward 'getting' and less toward giving as the spirit of ANTICIPATION got the best of us. I do not remember dreaming of a white Christmas, but we had a few. Snowman or not; we were destined for great food and fun, indoors or out. Red wagons, tricycles, train sets, toy guns, BB guns, and dolls thrilled us. A bike was one present that never came but was ANTICIPATED above all else. I was 19 when I bought my own bike; and it was purchased at a time when a bike was not an item of fun for me but one of necessity for transportation. In the middle of the fun and games and all the tasty goodies; somewhere in the center of the bakery flavors and fragrancies; they told us about a 'fat guy with a beard' dressed in red and white. However, they built everything on the foundation that a Saviour was born. 121121PSCtest, Winter Quintain, Francine Roberts
