Anticipating a Smile

Here I wait not wanting to be alone
Looking forward to some time together
I call but you fail to pick up your phone

My spirits started light like a feather
Anticipating seeing a smile on your face
Looking forward to some time together

So here I sit looking out into space
Wondering if you have forgotten me
Anticipating seeing a smile on your face

I look and I look but I do not see
I search for your car coming down the road
Wondering if you have forgotten me

My heart is heavy I need to unload
hope diminishes as the minutes pass
I search for your car coming down the road

I wonder if you have run out of gas
Hope diminishes as the minutes pass
Here I wait not wanting to be alone
I call but you fail to pick up the phone

Wonderful descriptions of the gradual fading of hopeful anticipation. Everyone has felt this.

Its as if a relationship coming to an end..And We keep hoping..and We keep waiting. Each day seems like a year..I can feel a sad feeling here..Yet after each sunset there is a sunrise with or without the car engine 's sound and its return.
