Dilly's 'Jolted by Twilight Contest          November 4, 2024

I was entranced watching the fading sun paint the sky in pastels. There were breathtaking moments of beauty as if he were brushing a canvas in shades of blush, lavender, and just a tint of amber. Each brushstroke blended in a new hue of color, making twilight bewitchingly ethereal. It's a magical time of day when sunlight slips away. I felt as if he were saying 'farewell' before drowning himself in the sea. For a moment I was struck by the sad thought that each day he dies another death. Then, as if he were gasping for one last breath, I sighed with a surge of remorse when the sea claimed him for her own. sunlight disappeared twilight left me with regret ~ mourning daystar's death As the sky began to darken, and the moon was on the rise, I felt the pull of her attraction and to her I lifted my eyes. Tomorrow, I would see the sun again when dawn announced his arrival. I would be awake to greet him when he brightened the morning sky.

Breathtaking in the painterly description, magical. You have a talent for absorbing nature in all of its intensity and then reflecting it so beautifully in language, charged with the original emotional impact. A pleasure to read and immerse oneself in....thankyou dear Lin.

Merci, merci, Paul. As lovely as a sunset may be, I've seen many more sunrises that are just as phenomenal. Most are missed by those who manage to sleep past dawn, but I'm so used to waking before he does to greet his light with songbirds. Your complimentary reviews are always a bright spot in my day/night.

A repetitive wonder for us to enjoy. It is always hard to say goodbye Lin but its always great to say hello again, and experience the joy again it brought. This is a Dear favorite for me. You wrote this with deep emotion and love for a visual masterpiece to witness each day and suffer through it departing from your visual attraction and admiration. Just love this Lin and I can read this poem a hundred times day and never get tired of the joy it brings me to visually be part of. A fav hugs...

Hello and thank you for such in-depth comments on my lines and for faving them, Michael. There are such wondrous moments to see at the sun's rising and setting... shame it is that so many never take the time to watch.

It's always sad when it sinks in the west, but the bright moon more than compensates for the loss. But we don't have to wait too long for it to be reborn again, saw many a brilliant sunrise when I was in Turkey starting with a tiny spark over the mountains then a golden orb forming as it rose, you never forget those moments. Some of the most beautiful sunsets I've witnessed were down from a flight from east to west. It's as if I'm chasing it for one last glimpse to see the sun take his last breath before falling into the horizon. Thanks an awful lot, Tom.
