Angel's In My Eyes

"Angel's in My Eyes"

Angel's in my eyes
murdering all its darling monsters
skin and bone its armour

it’s walking in disguise

(LadyLabyrinth / 2022)

"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)"

This may explain the phrase, "Kill Your Darlings", or "Murder Your Darlings" (2 x links below). It is a literary phrase used by publishers and writers. The poem before this one, I titled, "Monsters in My Head", this poem I have titled, "Angels in My Eyes". With this poem I am inferring while I have monsters in my head, I have an angel inside me (my soul) looking out through my eyes. My body (skin and bone) is my soul's armour. Now whether this soul is dark or light is up for debate. But I would say it is a complex soul that is both light and dark, both Monster and Angel ... and for it to move forward into a future of any sort, it has decided to murder all its darling monsters...that being, past storylines and characters, that are well past their used by date, no longer wanted, necessary or needed - and they are to be purged without mercy.
