And Time Stood Still

Like an arboretum, my smile and laughter fills empty space,
tall stand the trees all huddled together like girlfriends on a chilly night ready to share their secrets.
We lay bare our souls, sat on the bench, sipping our drinks on the coldest night of winter.
The wind rushes through the trees with an icy caress against our cheeks.
"It is natures botox" I quip making you laugh.
Your echoing laughter, like children dashing between the trees, makes me happy.
We make fun about the umbrellas hanging on the hooks at the entrance
below the black boots wait.
We joke about the English gentlemen with their wellies, pipes, and brollies.
taking their high tea in the gardens.
Lifting the pinkie in traditional gesture, and tipping of the hat Ha ha you mimic them.
It is still very cold we don't feel it much. It must be the Booze. Now and then we both go brrr.
It was your idea to trudge in the muddy forest the see the hidden gardens.
My pounding heart beating in my ears understands the happiness I feel that you are here.
The rustling leaves startle us as we gaze up into the dark sky.
No moon and no stars, just dense fog surrounds us almost touching us gently,
like ghost fairies giggling, eaves dropping on our conversation.
It is dark yet peaceful. It's just you and me.
"Cheers", the silence breaks with my salutation "to friendship".
We finish our drinks and stub out our last *** for the night.
Ashtray full of dog ends.
We must have stayed out a long time.

I dial room service, the waiter arrives with another round of devils juice.
"cheers Denzel." "This one is for you" we are always laughing. You and I understand the "Denzel" joke, we loved the movie too.

It's time to go to bed.
We have much to see in the morning.
Good night my friend.

Morning breaks with a chill in the air,
frozen fingers scraping ice off the windshield with a stick.
We walk around the city of London seeing the sights, from the Eye you observe your favorite 007 sights. Tower bridge, London Bridge, Westminster Abbey, the Big Ben. You loved London just as much as I do.

Your win on the slots made you happy, you never ever gambled before. Drinks at the Dorchester, and a nice dinner in the rainforest. Are you glad you came?

My memory escapes my pen, and here it lays, just like a million words lost in space.

And time stood still as if in trance.
Her interval a memory.
Her silent gaze, her mind a maze.
The rest are so oblivious.

Hi, Klio, This is an amazing poem. It has a story which creates interest for the reader and your way of expressing the words is beautiful. The metaphors that you use also draw me in, especially the one about the trees "all huddled together like girlfriends on a chilly night ready to share their secrets." It speaks the story of friendship all the way through. I love the humour as well. Great work!
