And Then It Stopped

There once was a time Though it's hard to believe A superhero, of a kind Could be someone like me Every language or letter I could fluently speak Make everything better With exaggerated feats Like kill giant spiders With the swipe of one hand Make night dreams quieter Chasing off, the boogie man I could enter the mind Inciting imagination Simply sit side by side Causing total elation I could hold the world With my strength in one arm Make it sleep, as I swirled No need for alarm It was rather abrupt It all came to a stop My children grew up Now I'm just Pop. by Daniel Turner

Thank you, Kai. I miss my children being young. We had so many laughs together and they were always right under my feet, whenever I was around. I was a truck driver. It really was sad when they grew up and left home. I still don't think I have gotten over it.

I was aware while they were still young that I'd miss it, and conscientiously relished the moments. It was fleeting regardless. How I miss it!

Very engaging write Danny, I never had kids, so I never was a superman in anyone's eyes, except for my wife, and age has taken away my superpowers, so I can relate!

Dan, I remember once calling my father "Pop". He said, "I'll pop you one!" This one reminds me of that day and of the twinkle in his eye when he said it. Thanks for sharing this and reminding me.
