And Then

And then it was 2019, and 2018 ended on a sour note. And I woke to tepid despair and a saw only mediocre toil, mindless sliding towards a sterile goal, dead eventually never having started (or perhaps forgetting) the game. So, I took a step back, I took a step out, and looked once more, at my self as a character of the stage, this foolish stupid world, and put down, for a moment, the fears I was carrying, this concern for those about me, for a moment, and as that crystalline character, that ancient child, that warrior, took a breathe and, waving once more at (her) at all those watching me trudge through (the end of) this life, laughed the tired laugh of the unbeaten, and jumped back in.
