And She Began To Write

AND SHE BEGAN TO WRITE... Let me tell you a story Of how a girl began to write ~ She loved her third grade teacher - Soft, kind, thoughtful - a shining light; She had another teacher, Who taught her English's magic trick, Inspired her to work with words, Sharpened her language, made it slick; She fell in love with the forms, the rhythm and rhyme of poetry; Since then, with her pen, she's been Interlacing word tapestry; I think you'd have guessed by now, I write about my writing trip, If not for my professors, I wouldn't have honed my penmanship; Forever grateful to God for such gurus who guided me, I wouldn't be where I'm today sans them to help my writing spree. 27th April, 2022

Dear Jo, your poem reminded me of my poetic journey. I had excellent teachers too, who supported me with their guidance. But the person who inspired me most to write, was my father. Enjoyed reading your beautiful poem. Love ~ Mala

You were lucky to have been initiated into poetry at a young age. In our times children were not given any training at all. Only when they came to college level, they would be given some exposure to it. Now things are slowly improving. Your indebtedness to your teachers is beautifully expressed here Jo....

Lucky you! My Third Grade teacher just noted my inability to write circle-after-circle neatly -and wasting ink and pen points! Enjoyed! Aloha!
