And Now the Good News

We were sinners all, none were worthy. Made in His image but marred by sin. Cut off from God by our iniquity, Our choices brought us to where we've been. That's where we wallowed, in sin's darkness, Prodigal sons this world made blind. Self ruled our lives, wrought in emptiness, Peace for our souls, we could not find. But God in His great Love reached out to us, He gave us His Son to show us the way. We can only reach Him through Christ Jesus We must repent and believe Him today. To repent is to leave our life of sin, To never go back to transgressions. God forgives us, pours His Spirit within We become reborn, His new creations. This new birth is from God, not works of man, We are cleansed from inside by His grace. Righteousness not earned by the good we've done, By His Mercy alone were our sins erased. His work starts in us, His Word comes alive! We experience Him in truth when we pray. A new start, a new heart He will revive He works in us to will and to do each day. The thief at the Cross was a dying sinner, There's no good he can do to earn God's Mercy. When he called upon Jesus, our Redeemer He was first to enter Paradise, he was free! Man looks at the outward appearance, But God always looks at the heart. Mercy and forgiveness, His great Presence To the humble and contrite, He imparts.
