In New Jersey state forests, if you're looking for firewood, take what is lying on the ground. Even if the tree appears dead, the law won't let you cut it down. As long as it is situated in the ground, there is always a chance new life will spring out of it. Good haiku.

This is a very good Haiku Jack! I love old trees and hate to see them trimmed, but it's necessary! Great Work!!

Good morning Jack. .... here in Texas, we don't believe in sawing off them old trees.. I actually love the way they stand, without a story to tell...xox~PD

Jack, you are doing very sensible haiku here. I like this style!! Wish I had more time here to catch up on my friends' poems. It's killing me, but I need to be out the door!! Soon.
