For the Decrepit Poetry Contest of Constance La France

From '54 and obviously restored:

Jaguar D-Type (1954)

“A beautiful car is something to be adored and if possible, restored in later years to its former beauty. Some of your best memories it keeps.” by poet There is a very old decrepit car. She was my father’s “baby” long ago. Named Jaguar D – like a Superstar - she cruised downtown with a polished glow. The young kids oohed and ahhed when she went by. Unwanted now – she sits in Grandpa’s field like a pet (once adored) left out to die. She’s rusted and busted; her window shield is shattered, and I bet bees made a hive inside her engine, for her hood is raised. Why couldn't she have been restored to thrive and as an antique, she could have been praised. Out to pasture is her degradation; to be towed and crushed: her destination.

An old car is an intimate companion one is always attached to. To see it crumple is painful. I can relate to your thoughts. Congratulations, Andrea.

This is true, right? I don't know if I've ever seen this model as it originally looked. Seen plenty of rusted cars lying dead in yards, sometimes many in one yard. My decrepit took an unexpected turn, one I'm good with. My head hasn't left me alone, I've slept very little so I'm becoming dangerous as far as writing poems or comments. I may hang around for a while if I can't sleep and just stare so come by if time allows ... CayCay

Old supercars turning into junk, a common sight thesedays because the lack of parts and interest of new generation. They bstill look like a beauty if wellmaintained and driven in rallies
