Author's Notes: This second poem presents another walk into the world of imagism with a different orientation than the first view that had just been presented earlier. This different take focuses on the accumulation of the age of this special vase and its associated grace and openness from an experential perspective. (The first poem, under this same title, with a "first view" in this comparison, emphasized more of the descriptive nature of this particular theme.) This second view effort is a product of my direct collaboration with my wife, Ingrid. It was my wife who suggested that we both look at the imagism apects of this particular theme from two similar, yet different perspectives. Something to think about for sure!! An Old Copper Vase – A Second View

an old copper vase
a witness of age
saw a lot
during times—
but all new to me.

the grace of the
experienced one
shall share it
with everybody
who is
willing to listen.

so
the old
and
the new
are
coming together
in a
new-found way
never expected
to find everything
that is needed
on their
individual path.

grace and openness
shall help
on the way.

Hi Gary, this is an excellent collaboration by Ingrid and yourself. Your imaginative pens fuse into one. Again, my interest is piqued by the thoughts placed before me. There is always much to be learned from the old in the new. Like poetry my friend, not all experience the same wonder when reading the same piece. We can learn much from our past. An excellent collaboration. Best wishes to you both. May your pens ever run gold. Your friend always....Mike.

Hello Mike!! Ingrid and I both really appreciate your comments here on the second view of "An Old Copper Vase." You're right for sure -- we can all learn much from our past. Having and sensing a certain wonder when one reads a poem or prose story is very important, and is something that all poets and writers should keep in mind as they develop and complete their literary products. Best Wishes from Ingrid and me!! Cheers, Gary

Beautiful. The lessons of time are often lost in the present. Age and wisdom are very interesting facets of knowledge. The world would be better if there were more people like you in the here and now. Regards to Ingrid as well. A smart partner you have.

Hello Duke, And many thanks again from both Ingrid and me for your continued viewpoint and related information. This "second view" kicks the imagism mantra an octave higher, moving it more into the spiritual realm with a "new-found way, never expected." Ingrid, indeed, is my smarter half!! Spiritualism and scientific concepts are closer hand-in-in hand than lay people may think. Best Wishes Always, Gary
