An Offering of Poppies

Californian wildfires, aided by strong winds, left a trail of destruction, deaths, and acres of ravaged land. Yet, out of the ashes, stimulated by intense heat, fire follower seeds start to sprout, and in no time at all, an explosion of orange and red poppies give a lease of new life to the barren land – a gratifying gift of hope which only nature has the ability to offer. the essence of rain nourishes an arid heart - inflorescent love - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Let the pens flow – Haibun Contest Sponsored by Jenish Somadas

A wonderful poem, Paul. Nature knows how to fix itself. I think we as human beings should get closer to nature. We're so wrapped up in technology and things that take us away from it.

G'day Paul … we were recently evacuated because of a raging bushfire. Your halibun described the event here as well. The countryside is quickly changing from black to green - thank you Paul - Lindsay

With wild veld fires all over the African continent, the grass that grows out of burnt embers and ashes is lush, green and spectacular - as in your great and profound poem preceded by a vivid explanation of the birth of new plants which after raging fires that brought about havoc and devastation rear their inquisitive colourful little heads - in this case the calm after the storm and not the calm before the storm - know I'll be re-visiting with congrats! Warm regards and hugs Paul, Jennifer.
