An Incident
I had nothing to do especially
I just thought I would step outside
And let some wind blow on me
While standing under a certain oak tree
I inherited with the purchase
Of this property.
The first struck my balded pate
And I
Knowing no enemy to fear
Thought it but a blow of fate
The second just missed my eye
And now I look up
And there
A squirrel trembling with glee
Another nut poised to throw at me
Perhaps a claim ... a hegemony
Perhaps a fear ... all fear
Has to do with our inability to share.
