An Idyllic Sky
She had a beautiful smile
I was instantly drawn to her
The woman I spoke to
Laughed at my wonder
Took me by the hand
And led me to the middle
I was struck by the lines of green
Under a canopy of vast blue sky
Where farmers were busy
Cultivating the land
She told me she sowed seeds
As she showed me how she thrived
Wrapped in traditional fabric
A mother and a wife
She took me through her joys and sorrows
And led me through mud huts so cool
In the early evening light
Everyone knew each other
Securely bound by common ties
All the woman folk holding children
Stood around to welcome
This city bred stranger
She offered me tea filling common space
That feeling of less stress and noise
Broken by a child who reaches out and cries
I was so touched with the kindness that I found
My feet now touched idyllic ground!
