An End to an Era
An End of An Era
Late-night drunken philosophy over waffle house coffee
A little existential dread to go with your scattered, smothered and covered
All the faces you may never see again
Cool water perfume ,burgundy hair and blue eyeshadow
My addidas that had poetry written on them
You smelt like dragons blood incense, salt and rust
Sunrises in the city park
Holding hands on the swingset
We talked all night but can't remember a damn thing we said
I saw heaven in holey jeans out all night with you running the streets
Enamored with the way the light at dawn made your skin glow
We were kings of the world
They say hold on to your youth while you're young but time was always wasted on us
We acted like we didn't know what it was until it was gone
Like so many things time creeps up on you, one minute you got it all
the next second you blink
And 20 years have gone
It hurts less when you realize the years never really leave you
Your existence is a vessel of memories
I saw a photo of this sign today
And you came running back to me
