Notes About The Poem

AN AFRICAN AMERICAN PERSPECTIVE:  2025

As Garvey echoed,

Only we can truly

Interpret our own

True reality:-

Thus, let us get to

Today’s above-ground

Railroading of ourstory

Engine-recking the lies

Of klan-hooded history:-

Jim Crow based history,

Clearly blood-inking

The political reality,

That America was,

And never will be,

A haven for the ebony-hued

Multi-generations of Juneteenth

Heirs like those of you and me:

We being infected with mental slavery:-

And the maintenance Aaron of this

Infected historical syndrome oppression,

Is what laid down the foundation

For political oppressors to pontificate

America being such a great nation:-

Thus, from the view of ourstory,

It’s historically why we should worry,

Today, we hear that blasphemous echo,

“Come, let us make America great again!”

However, what we need

To do again, in renewed testimony,

Is to reassure becoming a unified nation

Reflecting the home of the brave and free,

Living desired lives of peace, love, and unity:-

Let us once more and again, sacredly become

An endeavor to be a nation of caring people

Seeking to become a land of free humanity,

Where there is freedom, justice, and equity:-

Indeed, with divine wisdom and guidance,

Let’s seek to not only sing our Anthem,

But to daily live out its guiding words

In united, god driven labors of love;

Protecting ourselves and all who

Come to contributing to being

In a multi-ethnic democracy

Of oneness and onement:

Oh, what a onederful

Perceived, colorful perspective,

To be achieved by us!
