Amid the Jagged Shadows

"Amid the jagged shadows of mossy leafless boughs; " 
                                           Samuel Taylor Coleridge

The stage is set
      the curtain drawn
            the audience will not come

Inside my head
      a familiar blaring silence echoes
            that cannot be drowned out

It propels me night after night
      to meander through dark alleys
            in search of something... maybe you

A futile grim forsaken quest
      among jagged ominous shadows
            of another lonely autumn midnight
