Along Came a Spider

All things can tempt me, but some things tempt me more Like Squashing a spider, that crawls 'cross the floor Bring out the bugles...and sound the alarm Wait! I say to myself "She means me no harm" Her web in the corner, has caught her a fly That's where she was going...when she passed me by Quickly, she ran...with her tiny eight legs Carrying on her back....dozens of eggs I thought, "Not squash her- I'll go sleep on my couch" Then, I awoke with a bump, she bit me- OUCH! Your humor never fails to charm me, dear Charlie. How kind of you to let her (and her eggs) live. I love the wonderful irony of your awesome poem. Their bite can certainly hurt, and swell too. I let the spiders live so they can catch the yuckier creepy crawlers that get around :) Warmest wishes always, my wonderful friend.. ~Susan

SUSAN! Hey you're back :) So happy to see and hear from you my sweet and wonderful friend. I was praying that everything was okay with you and your family. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your charming comments. I don't mind spiders they usually stay to themselves, it's my girlfriend who is petrified of them (lol) she has me capture them in a bottle and then have me release them unharmed outside. Great to see you! Warmest wishes always, my dear friend. ~Charlie

G'day Charles … reminded me of a time when I found a bee drowning in a vat of honey, so when saving it, it stung me and died anyway - thanks Charles - Lindsay

What a fun entry you did to her contest, Charles. My mom told me the story of a spider that her own mother took a swipe at with a broom and many tiny spiders came running off her back across the floor. So creepy!!! Yep, best not to squash her!!!

Cute one. I can't stand those webs. If they are outside I do try to let them stay but sometimes they are just in the wrong place. Enjoyed reading your work. Sara

Charlie, Now this is a juicy poem. Don't bother with the daddy long legs, they bring good luck and will kill the nasty ones. -Richard

You spared her- taking pity for the eggs she carried--then she paid you back!--I see reflection of life's moments in your poem. Great humorous write, Charlie.
