Alone

They would not let me hold her as she died
I stood outside her window in the rain
Oh, she was alone as I watched and cried
Damn this pandemic that brought us this pain

A very powerful piece, Larry. Our heart certainly feels the pain of those who suffer loss during these difficult times. But it's quite another thing to actually live through it, I can't imagine...

Larry, I sincerely hope this didn't happen to you. Perhaps the only thing harder than losing a loved one is not to be able to touch or hold them in their final moments because of the virus. A very moving poem, deserving of its top honors. Congratulations!
