Almost Love

I dreamed of us, away somewhere warm. I placed my hand in yours, entrusted with my soul. Being a eager girl to go somewhere fast. Only to fall head first. Now I wake up lonely by your side. Feeling lost in a happy nest. What I would give to feel that first night you kissed me with a burning desire. Now we sit across each other as strangers. I wonder do you think about me. Do you glance at me when I’m not looking. Is this love? I search for something only to have nothing when I’m with you. I need to believe there is more than this. I deserve more than an almost lover. I hear the clock tick as I pack my bags and pat the dogs bye. Goodbye my strange-love. But I’m older now. We did this when we were young.
