Almost Home

ALMOST HOME . . . . . the feeling of getting close to home, easy waves, rounding the point into Conception Bay after Baccalieu’s battering, train speed abates after the familiar points clatter, smell of the canal or the bakery, sound of church bell or neighbour’s dog barking, road curves over the last hill and my roof eases into view. . . .

Hi Ilene, Thanks very much for liking this poem of mine............you know, I was on metro - it shrieked to a halt at the last-but-one station - and I see this every night of course - and it occurred to me that I was feeling good at seeing this last-but-one station, so I scribbled a couple of notes and there - bang- was the poem. I was pleased with it too. I'm very happy you liked it. Syd
