Superbly written, Susan. Your pen often captures the heartfelt essence of human connectedness, and this fine Haiku is no exception to that high standard. Best wishes always, Brian

How romantic. The candlelight of the eyes is such a poignant image. A warmth ... but also delicate. Doesn’t take much to blow it out. With or without the creative layout, the words are swell.

Dear D.W., I relish your your uplifting comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed the format and the 'lack of restraint' of my haiku.. That's exactly what I was going for! :)) Thank you, my friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

You are quite right, although the moon has been romanticized for ever, it is the candlelight, which with its strong flame wins over the moon, fire, luster and love brings about passion. Awesome Haiku my friend. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

My dearest Jennifer, I see that our sister muses are in complete agreement that candlelight tops moonlight! :) It is always such a lovely pleasure whenever your bright spirit appears on my poem's page. Thank you for brightening my day, I cherish your thoughts and our friendship, sweet lady. Warmest wishes, love and hugs sent to you from across the sea.. ~Susan

What a wonderful haiku, Susan. I really like how it flows beautifully without resorting to the conventional 'jarring' twist at the end. Peace and Serenity, Gershon

Ah, my dear friend, Gershon, your lovely comments are wonderful to receive. I agree that sometimes a ku can have a softer landing. Thank you for noticing my attempt at using a little more subtlety rather than a 'jarring twist' lol! You are so very appreciated, peace poet. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thank you for the uplifting feeling of your comments, Jan. I was actually inspired to write a non-traditional haiku after reading yours; "Flying South" (which I loved). The contest was already closed and I think Constance had specified "no humanity" just Nature, but since mine wasn't for the contest I thought I would mix a little human nature with Mother Nature after all. Your gracious visit is truly appreciated. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
