Against My Orders
My mind has orders...
Not to allow any single thought of you to enter
Nor to retrieve any sweet memory of your smile
My heart has orders....
To shoot to kill any warm sentiment or feeling of devotion to you
That threatens a rebellion
My lips have orders....
To imprison any kind or loving word that is pleading for passage
To your ears
My eyes have orders....
Not to let any look of longing or of fervent desire be revealed
As they search your face
Then day turns to night...
And, against my orders, you confidently stride into my life...
My eyes forget their orders...as they drink in your beauty and follow your every move
through the verdant fields of my dreams
My lips forget their orders...as they gush forth with promises of eternal love and faithfulness to you
My heart forgets its orders...as it throbs at your command to awaken love
and to live, beat and bleed for you.
My mind forgets its orders... as it immortalizes your every move, look, word and touch,
storing up the scenes with hungry greed
Then night turns to day...
And with it comes the dawning of reality
Frantically, a new set of orders are issued...
To my mind, my heart, my eyes and my lips
While my whole soul, my very being
Burns in torment
Awaiting the blessed night
And the release that comes from....
A land without orders!
