Adrenaline Junk
We can take our
Cigarette ash
And catch
The river on
Fire,
Hang
With only one hand
Holding
On to the edge
Of the bridge-
We don’t fly
Anymore
But,
We’ll taste the
Wind-
Angels turned
Dare-devils
When the fade-out
Hits.
We don’t care for
Sunsets,
We relish
Every
Moment-
Lips locked
And
Nights spent
Not sleeping.
We’ll give
Anything
For the
Rush-
Adrenaline junk
Finding love
In the
Skydive
WIth no
Parachute-
No thought
Of a soft
Landing
For our wings
Melted off from our
Own fires-
We smile
All the way down
To the boom,
Splat
Against the water,
Hard like the
Concrete we grew
Up on.
We
Are the
Star-crossed
Star-fallen
Youths
Whose futures
You’ve
Desecrated-
Those few
Trail blazers
Across a night sky
You’ll miss
While you’re
Six feet
Asleep.
