Addiction To Poetry Soup

Addiction to Poetry Soup
                     A Questiom

Why do people live on this site?
I do not know if it’s wrong or right...
Not only poetry, which to me is fine!
But life ....,online, why, all the time?

With people we don’t know at all?
Humanity, I hear another call.
Chill out,,must you in every contest be?
No love for the pure joy of poetry?

Comments to other poets......paper people?
We adore them, as if they live in steeples!
It’s a question to honestly ask.
Must I be here, all day, is that my task?

What about calling a real friend?
Or having coffee with Joe, around the bend?
Or must I be here all day, to comments get?
I think not..... my poet pets.

I encourage all, to not write just to win.
There is a real world, in a horrid spin.
What will you do about that?
Problems do not disappear, by just saying, scat.

Life is too be lived, or am I wrong?
With real humans, singing our song.
Love your family and playful pets.
They do not live forever, on this you can bet!

As with everything in life moderation is the key, poetry is part of our lives but we shouldn't let it take over our lives. We should be forever vigilant and if you're neglecting other things in your life then you might have a problem. Tom

Tom. My friend. Always the voice of reason! In any season. Same applies to drugs, secs or booze. If you find yorself lost in ant, seek help. It’s easy to get lost. Pangie

I just like poetry. Don't go out much anymore, my hobbies, art, woodworking, music, playing instruments -- they are all home. Mainly, a drummer, taking down and setting up is a chore. When I have a few minutes, I really enjoy reading what the other poets are publishing. It is not difficult to know the honest ones...and, in that way, we get to know each other quite well, on the inside, which is really knowing. Poetry is very intimate. I don't need to know everything. I hope you are feeling better, and are able to get out a little. Oh, one of my cats sits in my lap, while I'm on Soup, having a beer and reading poetry -- so it's a family addiction. Joe.

I've often thought about exactly this topic. After all that thought, my conclusion is that, yes, the social aspect of Poetry Soup can easily slip into addiction. Then again, so can watching TV, listening to sports on radio, and many other pastimes that are ok 'in moderation.' I try to watch myself, but I get carried away some days for sure. Thanks for the thought-provoking write, Pangie. Here's to Sense and Sensibility, Gershon
