Across the Way
Across the Way
Across the way on a misty fog morning
I see forms that move and seem to wave;
Have you returned to me, my Love,
Your spirit traveling from the grave?
Across the way.
A star or two still shine and beam,
Shaping my sister lightly dancing with joy,
Our mother stately, Daddy’s song with the breeze I hear,
And is that that lovely little neighbor boy.
Across the way.
Our pets are sniffing each other in play
As the mist darkens and shapes with a breeze,
And you, my old neighbor who lived in that house
Prop your arms on your hips to survey the scene.
Across the way.
As I move from my window with tears in my eyes,
As I wonder if you are all really true,
With no more sadness you wait for me
With God in heaven when the sun breaks through.
Across the way.
