Notes About The Poem

Acoustic Shadows

The day’s flattery flattens into disturbance,
  glowering as arms weaken,
my ears seek solace,
  a soundproofed room,
lit by candle flickers in the dark,
I miss a peek all I can, trying
with might not to notice
  its shadow who's espied me
ignoring audiovisuals
  of melted clocks
and tick tocks echoing
In a Dalí pixel I dwell,
in his obscurity I fall
  The Sandman
won’t get me,
  asleep, not this time

I like how this poem feels really tense and dreamlike at the same time. It gives the sense of someone trying to escape noise, pressure, or even their own thoughts, but never quite managing it. The Dalí imagery and references to melted clocks make it feel surreal, like time and reality are slipping, which fits really well with the ending about sleep and the Sandman

A recurring insomniac (sleep wake) I stressed on. Therapy research, the advice truly says stay up and write, I do until I cannot keep my eyes open. Sleep wake, causes changes in the brain--there are natural foods before bed with melatonin, serotonin, and relaxing minerals like magnesium. Almonds, eggs, MILK, turkey etc. Tyvm, SO, I really appreciate that you can clearly point out my intentions. Blessings

Nice poem with alliterations. A good night sleep is hard to come these days. Worries about too many bills to pay.

The alliteration came naturally, ty. Lol, bills, bills, bills, and now no child care!

Sleep wake is common as society systems are designed to complicate our well-being. Tyvm, Yann~ Easter blessings!

I too prefer no sound to sleep because it seems everything is amplified by the dead quiet of night! This is very creative and like a artistic piece full of wonderful character and your unique style!

Ty, KJ! I like quiet and only the moonshine outside thru my windows, except for the cayote pack howls! We all suffer with our own ailments. ') Im here for support and to give support. Xxhugs
