We are snarly, and we’re gnarly, We’re twisted, and we’re mean. We smack you with our branches, And we keep our real selves unseen. We’re awful, and we’re terrible, You had better keep your children away. Because we’ll hold them, and we’ll fold them, And we’ll never let them run away. We are the meanest and the baddest, And the most unhappy ones around. And the sickest and the saddest, You will wish your children never found. Except on Christmas week, when we turn all nice and sweet. Except when we come to your house, and with you we fast compete. We are the pretenders, the liars, the thieves, the psychopaths galore. Where are you going? I am not lying. She really cannot come to the door.

That's about as accurate as the season gets! I almost lost half of my car one Christmas week; some guy stole a parking place with his sports car; my front end was halfway in; he got out, walked away like he didn't even see me. Since that year, I don't go near a Mall after Thanksgiving...thank God for online shopping.

I think this is why so many people refuse to "shop" the old-fashioned way. I wish I had purchased Amazon stock when it was still affordable!

A poem with a wonderful insightful message Caren! Christmas can bring out the best and the worst from shoppers I have found. : )

Yes, every family has at least one... although some families are rife with them. Wonderfully penned, (I especially loved how you describe them as "snarly" and "gnarly")! ;)

I was thinking how should I describe these wolves in sheep's clothing who fool our young, and steal their real selves? It seems like they prey on the most innocent, and only the families can see it, but by then they have been isolated and stolen away.

Thank you Eve. I was thinking how awful it is when you have one of these in the family, and I think we all have at least one.
