Because it wasn't physical, No hands were laid, No foul words spewed, I brushed it asaide and pondered Where it fell apart and how to mend. The rift that existed between us Was like an open sore, Every time I thought I was over, You come back to settle the score. Because it wasn't visible, No blackened eyes, No bloody lips, I overlooked the pain and thought, Where did I go wrong. The chasm that filled our relationship Was like a festered wound, Everytime I treated the poison, You fed the fire with emotional fuel. Because you said you loved me, I thought this was just a phase But I realize that like parasite You took from me all the love I had to give And in return you walked away. I look at the state of affairs I look at my bleeding heart I feel the life growing within And realize you left when there was nothing left to use.
