Absolute Truth

You know I did my very best, but the best was not enough. I climbed the highest mountain crest, but the best was not enough. My aim was not so easy, since truth is not easily found, Yet I plodded on my hard quest, but the best was not enough. I read books, all sorts, both on philosophy or classical Until I thought I needed rest but the best was not enough. Plain truth was notion so elusive, a concept hard to find I asked the eminent professed but the best was not enough. My dear Victor, stop now this useless search on absolute truth, As Pilate rejected truth in jest but the best was not enough.

Truth is elusive ! Any effort to fathom into its mysteries and find out the absolute truth will be a vain effort.... ! Great poem with profound thoughts.....

Hi Victor, Your poem is so relatable. In trying to please another, one will always fall short. Our best is sufficient, we're not perfect. God loves just as we are. I enjoyed the read. Have a great day and weekend:-) Alexis

I have lived with that all my life Victor and finally came to the realization that to try to please anyone but God is futile. Your best will never be enough. But with God there is peace and confidence in His love. That's all you really need. God Bless, JB

Well written Victor, its not the easiest form to write but you've composed it well. I think we're often too hard on ourselves thinking our best is not enough. Tom

We can only lean on the Lord for all the truth we need. It is simple! It is beautiful! And yet somehow we reach for more. He is more...simple. Still the search goes on. We are only human. Hugs ~
