Absence
absence (for Vivian Meir)
remember you?
by your absence,
a worn spot, well rubbed,
on the decrepit park bench
will not be polished
any longer
a hunched, disappearing shadow
listening intently
to the living rise and fall
of a chill winter’s lake.
snow, misses you
there is no one to frame
floating in your mind
to where?
it is a secret!
you are gone
and people recognize that fact
because of the terrible weight
of your absence.
