Abandoned

Abandoned again I walk alone at the edge of my understanding,
Answers sought in the haze beyond, but none found.

Alive to the pain of my undoing, yet no relief do I seek in forgetfulness,
For small price it is indeed, to cherish those few moments.

Heartache fills quiet moments,
But trade not would I one moment of past sublime,
For release from this present anguish.

Her desire for me remembered deepens my sorrow,
That loss pounds loud in my chest.

As before, I watch for a message announcing her return,
Hoping all the while that it does not arrive.

The mind verses the heart when abandoned... You write with your heart and the understanding of your mind.

Thank you so much Sara! The pain is the price of the memory so sweet. It almost makes it bearable.

It has been the time of my life! Great and terrible - good material for poetry or a blues or country song.
