A Years Passing

Time has passed so painfully fast, one can hardly believe the time as your flag flies at half mast the church bells cry their chime. We,darling father, cried for you- our loss could not be measured through pain that just grew and grew our unfading memories treasured. A years passing and on we grieve whilst autumn is due to appear and with every lost fallen leave remembrance shall keep you near. Beside us with each new day borne- in our hearts forever you will stay. Time is no healer as we mourn and lay for you a silent bouquet. And though they will fall our tears since you laid down for endless rest there is joy for those precious years for we were all so truly blessed. Time has passed so painfully fast, one can hardly believe the time as your flag flies at half mast the church bells cry their chime.

Oh, dear Christina x there are no words really. I went through similar loss in the past months and although I miss Dad (and mum who I lost 2 years ago too) I celebrate their legacy of love and have discovered so much about them in their absence. Hugs. Sam x

Dear Sam, heartfelt thanks to you for reading the hardest poem and one of which I wished I didn’t have to write. Your comments are beautiful and I know we both share a great loss in our hearts and both our poems that we have written in their honour will always remind us of how much they were truly loved, will always be loved and shall always be missed. God bless them with a heart full of gratitude for all those precious years. Hugs to you too x

Over 28 years ago my Mum and Dad Passed away. I love them dearly and to this day, I miss them, but I still haven't cried. I just have the feeling that they didn't want me to. Your poem is striking Christina, a noble tribute to your father. Best wishes.

Thank you so much Sara for reading the poem and leaving such beautiful comments. I’m so sorry to learn that you lost your own beloved father 20 years ago. My heartfelt sympathy to you. Like you, there’s not a single day that has passed when I haven’t thought of him and told him how much I love him and miss his presence within our loving family. That will continue until my last breath. I wish for us both, the continuous gift of precious memory. Hugs to you.

It doesn't matter how fast the years pass, they are always alive in our mind and heart. Such a lovely poem for our beloved ones, that unfortunaly left us. Well done, Christina.

They are always with us, watching over us. Grief never leaves us, it becomes more manageable after a time, for some longer periods are required. Losing a father (and a mother) tears at the heartstrings for those who had strong bonds and Love, given and received. Also, for those whose absence during their time in this world with those left here, their acquaintance, friendship and love fervently sought but never realised. A beautiful tribute to your much loved father, who is always close by you.

Nice Quatrain poem, Christina. Repeating the last two lines in the first and last verses was a good way of emphasizing the summary of the poem. Dealing with loss and grief can linger when we lose someone meaningful in our lives. Thanks for sharing, Bill
