A Y e l l o w Rose

herself, the color of light
petals are chords

fallen just so over her throat
winded, winded first love

storm was serendipitous
her scent spilled last night's darkness

waiting in rain's spray
like I saw in someone else's flaxen hair

her stem grows more long i n g
for the sun to go down to her.

The color of light. Wonderful metaphor. Each line is a study in the journey. Thanks for sharing this story. Blessings.

I just saw my last comment here. I need to check for typos ! I am pretty sure I didn't write correctly when I said "bee" poems to you. I must have meant to type "new"

I like how you’ve spaced yellow, Paige ~ I feel the stretch. The alliteration in these two lines are musical as well as effective : “storm was serendipitous her scent spilled last night's darkness”. I feel the poem needs two more lines related to roots, since you’ve covered petals, stem & flaxen hair for crown. It would also give the spiritual feel of poem more grounding & materiality, making it more relatable. I’m so happy you have not resorted to AI for your alliteration as some poets on this site are now doing. (unfortunately). It only detracts from individual style. Have a happy spring day, dear hard working Poet. I enjoyed your poem today. Xx

your kind of melancholia lingers almost incessantly, paige...sensitive piece of art!

Lovely! Light longs to shine with its petal chords. Spring brings out such reflections!

A subtle metaphoric write. Quite deep.
