A Wird Evening Camping Out

The evening was dark and creepy All the crickets were chirpy Then the wolves were howling In the tree branch, the owl quiet Two boys camping out for the eve In a wide tee-pee wide awake One was weeping, the other stared Both of the boys were wide awake There was no shiny moon or stars For some reason it was pitch blackness Both boys were very scared They did not know the reason Yet they were wondering why Two boys no longer sleepy Had a scared feeling all night Waiting for the morning come To return home safely They decided never to go in the woods again

I can almost feel their anxiety. A weird night indeed, I have discovered from experience sometimes we do not know why we are scared, but we discover later we had a good reason.

I really like how you set a scary mood about those two boys. Maybe when they are adults they would not be afraid any more!!

Hello Charlies, I also did camping as a youngster I remember being in a sleeping bag, inside a tent. When i awoke in the morning I found myself outside the tent. From this day on I still wonder how I got to be outside the tent. A mystery to me. Have a nice day my friend.

Reminds me of my first camp-out when a child with the Boy Scouts. The older Scouts told Ghost Stories around the snapping fire. Every sound from the near unknown seemed a horror while a lively thrill for a City Boy. Sometimes I long for those days when I knew less and felt more. Great poem!

Well written Darlene, the dark certainly spooks people especially the young. When morning comes all the fears are forgotten. Tom
