A Wilted Rose

I took the bus mom,
h o l d i n g  a bright rose for you;
clutched TIGHT in my hand . . .
    I  b r u s h  brittle leaves away,
       and lay down my  w i l t e d  ROSE.

A beautiful write BW. I find it interesting that you chose to use the word "lay" in your last line as opposed to "lie." It keeps with your poems theme but I think the wilted rose you speak of is you. I also enjoyed the layout to help the reader understand your intent for how the poem should be read.
