A Violent Reaction

When the long arm of the law, belongs to an assassin. And peaceful protests alone, can bring no satisfaction. Then the only choice left that, will please all of the factions. Is to have a more violent reaction. Blood is running too hot and, it is beginning to boil. Those who think they are in charge, have words worse than coal oil. To fuel hatred’s flames while they’re, getting rich off the turmoil. And they cause a more violent reaction. "Well, we sure can't let them live", from their barricades, they cry. "We should just shoot 'em all dead, they’re just criminals ", they lie. They have nothing left to give, because they’re not rich or white. We must suppress their violent reaction. Now our inept congress has, become so indecisive. They can't pass a single law, not without the advice of. The rich Wall Street businessman, waiting for better prices. On the guns sold for violent reactions. The respect for our brothers, has long ago gone away. It is so easy for us, just to look the other way. When bigotry of race slips, quietly into the fray. Trying to cause a violent reaction. Hell, when it comes to the fray, it sure did not have to slip. It busted through the locked door, with an unsuspected pip. Grabbed a tight hold on our throats, with a steely vise-like grip. Hoping there’d be a violent reaction. Before our streets and alleys, are aflame and exploding. Fires of freedom start raging, guns of injustice loading. That spark of foolishness sends, innocent bodies floating. Before we start a violent reaction. I plead that we all step back, if just for a little bit. So we might let cooler heads, try to make some sense of it. Before the planet turns to, an enormous pile of sh1t. And we can’t stop this violent reaction.

You've aptly described our violent, chaotic world as well as the inane motivations behind the not-thought-through reactions. I agree with you. Congress is inept at making decisions while our society runs amuck! I agree: The respect for our brothers, has long ago gone away. The media scrambling for viewers seems to incite the violence. Makes this Texan's blood boil. Well done, Jerry...have a great evening, Sara

Thank you Sara. We are a world that has lost its way. But we must have faith that a resolution can be found.

You’ve expressed this very well, Jerry! I wish everyone would be able to take a step back and realize how these “violent reactions” are harming us all…

Thanks for reading, Ilene. perhaps it is not too late too avert disaster, but the odds are growing smaller.

I'm sure violent reactions could sometimes be avoided if only both parties sat down and try and find a way forward, wishful thinking maybe, or has it gone beyond that. Tom

I believe it has gone across the line of no return. Unless we can find some new voice to bring some sort of reason, but I only see repeats of the same rhetoric. As the Bonnie Tyler song goes, we need a hero.

Interesting poem Jerry, is this about a particular situation you have seen recently or something happened to you? Cooler heads are always important.

Things I've witnessed with my own eyes and things that are happening around the world. Bigotry and hate run rampant in America. Our congress has rotted so badly that they are now turning to fisticuffs on the Senate floor. We've seen this all before in our history. We all know, that history repeats itself. Thanks for reading, my friend.
