A Tide of Crescendos and Trills

Precision scales of a Bach concerto relentless tide of crescendos and trills Waves of emotion engulf my soul pianissimo's delicate fingers stroll Mozart sonatas and waltzes I hear Grand Ballrooms of Venice once more appear My heart rejoices in time with the wind to the strains of Paganini's sweet violin Alas, passion for the masters is lost today to an era where Tik-Tok holds sway

I hear you; cannot stand modern music -- not music in my opinion, certainly not to my ears. Early jazz I'm Ok with -- stuff you can tap your feet to, and feel happy~wanting to dance. What young hear affects the development of their brains. Classical music boosts IQ's. That's a fact.

What the young hear also affects the ruination of their ears! What a mess! Thanks, Joe. :) gw

Classical music caused Asians to buy - and learn how to use - new instruments at which they now excel, though the majority still prefer the beat of a drum or clang of cymbals. But Biden only hears the 1812 Overture . . . .

Hi! Gershon, When it comes to music, I'm old school. I like music played on the record player; 45's, 78's, and LP's. I really don't like the music of the day. I enjoyed your writing on the "Old Masters." Nicely Written. Blessings ~ Debra

Do you have a record player that plays '78's? Whoa! Are the records vinyl? Are we in the Twilight Zone yet? ~ Rod Serling

HEY!!! Most of us only heard that kind of music as kids when we watched those terrible cartoons on black and white TV's

Gosh, were you ever lucky, John: Black-and-white TV!! When I was young, our TV didn't even have a screen. That's why they call it the 'boob-tube' you know.

You are right! We’ve lost the lovely sound of a needle falling on a record. We’ve lost the quietness…the finesse of music that touches the heart. I could say more…then it must be a poem ;) Good Evening, dear one!

Gershon, There are still some of us oldies who love classical. I love almost all music. especially the good, old Blues singers. Most who sing are poets, too. I liked your sonnet :)

Thank you, Ann... In my seventies, I've turned to classical music for comfort. It fills what had been an empty hole in my life. :) gw

Hi Gershon, You mentioned some greats in your well-written and clever write. I agree in this ticktock era passion is lost. Good write. Did I mention I like your style? Have a nice day-Alexis
