A Tender Moment
A TENDER MOMENT
While studying in standard Eighth
I missed rank and prize only for one mark
giving shocking jerk as terrible injustice done to me.
No consolation, no solace.
Turned morose, depressed.
I was determined to stand First, next year.
I was not a so-called studious student.
But my efficiency in Maths, always helped to hold high rank
and over all strong will power supported throughout.
Day dawned when result of Annual Exam was to be out.
As progress report came to hand
My joy soared high touching sky.
Being back from school I was eagerly awaiting
for return of Dad from institute.
As the doorbell rang, I rushed and gave the news
to achieve First Rank.
Instantly he hugged me and told
‘Your success gives me more pleasure
than that of mine!’
That tender moment reached me in heaven.
Till now I cherish that ethereal touch of his affection.
In later life I felt exact same emerald emotion,
while caring for daughters to raise and rear.
Their joy and success always upgraded me.
My own career was next to follow up.
