A Tale of Two Minds

Though the years he remembers blue skies some that turn to grey an inglenook of burning embers, verdant pastures turning to hay the snow rides on Santa’s sleigh. Yet here he sits in his lonely room A case of dementia we are told Now a silhouette of youthful bloom, His only misdeed being too old Another mind enters the fold. © Harry J Horsman 2011

A silhouette of youthful bloom...verdant pastures turning to hay...gleaming lines, Harry. Such a great play on words...my fav kind of play...ha ha...you should write more of these poems about dementia..it helps show the uncaring and oft misunderstood world the sensitivity of a poet. Awesome...Gwendolen

The nice thing about it is people don't know they have deteriorated to that state. Living in their own world where time has no meaning. We can only imagine what they see. I got a lot out of this one.

Hmmmmm Is he demented or just revisiting his youth. A time when he was young and strong and could do all the things he loved to do. Nice job here. God Bless, JB

'They were the best of times; they were the worst of times.' Sadly, we end badly.
