Oh, to watch the sunset, sitting with my guy,
seeing the persimmon of a summer sky.
Like apricot jam, it’s slathered out and glowing -
glowing like the smile, which on my face is growing.
Clouds as plush as pillows cavort, then fade away.
Sea gulls call out cow-cow-cow at the end of day.
Upon the beach we hear the rising of the tide.
I cuddle even closer to my sweetheart’s side.
He puts an arm around me as the cool breeze plays
with the palm which underneath we’re sitting as it sways.
Sun’s become a rose in bloom, sinking into sea.
Eventide unfurls around us, so enchanting me.
Slight wisps of twilight clouds will also soon be gone.
Still I wish this loveliness would go on and on.
Sun will be replaced by moon and shine for us no more
after sunset’s final light has drenched this splendid shore.
