A Stranger's Name
. for public domain
I read my way up to Abraham
and I stopped for a long while to think,
"I wish I could have met him,
to talk with him while his herds
stopped by the Jordan to drink."
What a thing for the Highest to notice,
a man leaves his home land to wander
and seek his own life as a stranger
in strange lands where his name was not known.
The story made me ponder and wonder.
And all through the revered Scriptures,
miracle raisings of the many dead,
the wholly profane and the holy wars,
until my sore eyes could read no more,
Abraham's name in my heart and head.
