A Spiritual Agnostic's Prayer For the New Year
Dear God,
In whom I have little faith, help us.
I find it difficult to believe in you,
Even though I do believe
That the need for belief
Is part of the essential nature of Man.
But if I am to accept the infinite Evil
That exists in the world today,
Then I can only pray that
Infinite Good exists as well,
And that it will, ultimately, be manifested
In whatever remains of our humanity.
Author's note: The opposite of faith is not disbelief, but unbelief. It is, in my opinion, unrealistic to believe that any one faith is better than any other, or that any one faith is worth killing…or dying…for.
