A Sonnet For a Friend
Tears trickle down my face down to my lips
Salty and cold drops from my eyes I taste
With hands trembling and bluish fingertips
With sweat and blood moving in such a haste.
Smell of burned candles in the air diffuse,
And chrysanthemums around you scatter
Thick curtains and carpets with gloomy hues
“Farewell my friend,” was all I could utter.
Casket of white and gold where you sleep in,
Shines like rich pearl in the dark and cold hole.
Beautiful! Looking like you’ve always been
Waiting for angels to carry your soul
And from where you lie still I see you smile
As if you’re leaving me for just a while.
