Her brain is taking her away from me. My best childhood friend.. going home to be with God Cancer of the brain….now do you see? And all I can do is pray and bow my head with a nod. To pen poetry at such trying times as these I am thousands of miles away and cannot hold her hand. Poetry.now truly a task done without any ease Tis a reminder that she will soon walk on God’s land. Peace will be yours and I will always remember Swinging on your back porch. our shared joy. Our walks to Mass,in autumnal Septembers. This is no time to be jocular, cute, or coy. It’s my last poem to you..from this life’s street. Holding a gift from you, a wooden skate with our names on it. I can only pray, that in heaven we shall again meet. How much more valuable, than a suave Easter bonnet . I have written some poetry about how short life is. Texting,Facebook, emails are not at all real life. True friends, real family is all that really gives. Electronic emptiy nonsense..a cause for strife I have in my hand a tiny wooden skate you sent. With our names upon it….Joanie and Pangie My emotions and heart are broken and bent. The joy to my heart, you held the golden key! 7/11/2023

Joanna, I found that picture in a floral box, she had sent me four years ago, in this box, were pictures of our childhood adventures. On the back of each, she noted the date and the place. That was August 9, 1949…Starved Rock State Park,Illinois. It was a dream to go there. Thank you, Joanna and all who commented.. you each have gigantic hearts and are a source of serenity to me. Thank you.one and all. Hugs, Pangie xo

Thank you Eve, I knew you’d understand. In the poem I indicated that she was still alive but drinking fast but it’s very disheartening because she’s younger than I am so it’s hard to get into the poetry groove right now and I’m glad you understand. Thank you, Pangie

Ever time I will use my red Microwave, Joanie will be in my thoughts. She bought it for me a few years ago. Joanie was an excellent chef and baker. I do not trust the MDs at the hospital she’s at. My Mom was there and I transferred her out! Will mail you about that. Best decision of my life! Love, your friend in CA…Panagiota xx

Hello Darlene …Joanie lived a good life according to the beliefs she was taught. When that final day comes, God will welcome His child. I hate to think of all the suffering she is enduring. That picture of us is dear to my heart. Me, the brunette, she. the blond. What a wonderful heart you have. I never thought of her watching over me! Thank you, Hugs,,,Panagiota xxx

This is such a loving memory in wonderful poetry. It must have been so hard to write, but it is skillfully done. Good friends are priceless.

David, Joanie is still alive but going so fast. Right you are about true friends. They are there for you not deserting you.. the viciousness of the web,is that at a site like this…one can get easily taken in by a friend!!But we don’t really know each other… I end up trusting some thugs here, for want of a better word, I don’t buy the “read as many as possible“idea.it’s pushed by PS and ugh on that Community Board. Codicil..I am stating, I am not one of those kids on roller skates racing to a finish line here. In anything! Anyone can write here and think they are a poet…that’s not true. Then commenters drool over non poems? Yes, they do. I nearly pass out reading them. Good grief.((( Pangie You are one of the Best here. I envy your writing talent. It’s all yours, it’s so you. I admire integrity like yours and many others here. I hope we stay new friends for a long time. Joanie would cry is she read this! PAngie x

Yes it is,,, that is Joanie on the the right, me on the left,. We were fortunate to grow up,when the world was sane… there were no cuss words,, only two sexes. Church on Sundays and other days….wow. No kinappings, neighborhoods had patriotic parade on many times. we were 100 per cent American no matter where our parents were from. Our grandparents came here legally. Babies were gifts from God, a joy. They were not headed for an inner Auschwitz, i,e,a uterus via abortion! It’s sad to see how far this and other countries have fallen. I don’t recognize this world. I have seen the AI poetry on this site.those who are doing that. Please stop it.it takes years to be a good poet. Erase poetry you never wrote…please! They know who they are.or, give credit to AI..I won’t read poets using AI. They are cheating themselves. Pangie

Hi Bob! I know you already know what it’s like to lose someone close to your heart. Your words, “eternal friendship” were a source of comfort to me. Gracias! It was not someone from my childhood only. This is a decades long friendshio I am grateful for. One of the few, that remained constant. I do pray God cures her. At this point, it is up to him. Appreciate you and your time,Pangie.xx

The girls (princesses) in the photo are adorable, their dresses are pristine against the rocky landscape, and sweetness abounds. Pangie, the gift of poetry is the best. You have gifted Joanie and the poems will stay in her heart for eternity. May God give your friend a speedy recovery. xhugs

Dearest Ayana,a magnifique comment. That is me on the left. I was 11 years. Joanie was 9 then and we did wear lovely clothes. And seems like we were forever polishing our white shoes all summer! Joanie was rushed back to the hospital yesterday, so I still pray she prevails. I appreciate your friendship here at the Soup and your poetry is above the rest.I can tell how much work you put into it. The date in that picture is 8/14/1949 Thank you for your compassion and wishes. *****With hugs and gratitude,Pangie x

My thanks to you Elena.I,too appreciated that photo as much as you did! Times were sure different back then. Longer dresses back then and yes we had to practice modesty. Even at the beach! There were no bikinis back then, are you kidding?no trashy movies with cussing. Family and zgod counted back in 1949. Today? Anything goes! Heaven help the children. Hugs, Pangie

We respond to all kinds of poetry here. Thegood, the bad and the ugly. Your response was perfect! Ar least you did not pass by and say nothing, If I wrote. About a rainbow, I would get comments. This is about a human being therefore, few are the comments . Actually it’s about to human beings and it’s the truth and it’s not some kind of made up story or fairytale.. and I am dismayed, I put imy heart on paper here but.it doesn’t matter. Pangie Thank you for having a soul.

Kim, your touching words, are akin to a warm hug from a loving friend! Sincere thanks. I found a picture of Joanie and I. Will post later this morning. I hope you come back to see it….we were around 11 years old. I came across it,in a box of pictures, she had sent a few years ago. It’s a decorative box. I will continue to pray for a miracle, I do believe in them. I have seen many in my life With deep gratitude. Kim Hugs.Pangie
