A Sliver of Moon

A sliver of moon is enough for me As it hangs there in the sky, Like a smile of the Cheshire cat we’d see If, like Alice, we’d wandered on by. A sufficient hint that we’re not alone In the vastness out in space, A reminder that all of those songs we’ve known About moonbeams we’re right to embrace. Though it waxes and wanes and then disappears, I can guarantee it will deliver To my mem’ry the best of its souvenirs – Not its fullness, but merely a sliver.

Not a night stroller, even in summer, though I think the moon is a beautiful object, especially when it has a rainbow around it, caused by moisture in the clouds. I have a poem about that based on the music of Debussy. Lovely poem./ M

Like you I like it when the moon is around to keep me company, especially when having to walk in badly lit areas...and yes, a sliver will do me fine!! Regards // paul

Another good point written with perfect rhyme of course. I work nights and around midnight I do security checks around the building and must admit I miss the moon if it's not there. Another good one Ilene!!

what a sweet poem Ilene I love going out walking on a moonlit night with the stars peeping out and twinkling so beautifully. Regarding the sky people come to our Island to stargaze as we have so little light pollution:-) hugs jan xx
