A Sense of Belonging

"Romantic lovers require from each other at least the facade
of reason: The desire to be what romantic love makes us
appear in the other's eyes. We want to imagine we are
deserving of the love we inspire." ~Maggie Gallagher

We've been slow dancing—
    romancing in a seductive prelude
Wooed by the cravings in our eyes
    hypnotized in amorous flirt
 Asserting glances sparked by embers
    remembrances of a burning fire

Desire— the remnants of heated passion
    Fashioned whispers, calling our names
claiming our hearts to beat as one
    none has requited or sated

Abated our harvest of love yet to reap
Deep and lonely had been our nights
Blighted from cold and empty arms
Palm to palm we feast on each other
smothered by longing— a sense of belonging

Lin, I'm reading this and thinking it's not simple to live with another person. We have to let them be and like them and what they do most of the time. Being together, we do try to give another what they need and want. Not always easy. But it also can be fun. If it starts to be a bother, that might indicate an issue. Smiles!!

I'm smiling at your comments, Duke. Despising the cliche', been there, done that... twice. I love living alone. I'm only a bother to myself! Seriously, thank you for reading me today.

Dear Lin, I loved this for it is a lush, intimate dance-full of longing, vulnerability, and the ache for true connection. There truly is tension between desire and loneliness, the way we crave to be seen and cherished for who we really are. Even in the emptiness, your words sing with hope, that love, when shared honestly, gives us a sense of belonging that heals and sustains. Your Heart's Music! Spring Blessings, My Dear Lin, Daniel

There's that fine line between, should we or shouldn't we? The risk is always worth taking. I don't like 'what if' scenarios. Thanks for the reading and you sincere comments, Daniel.

My weekend was a fine one, Tom except for the flickering of my monitor. Not sure if it's that or my computer. At the moment it's behaving. Thanks for liking these verses.
